Here are the Best Guitar Wall Mounts and Hangers
1. Hercules GSP38WB PLUS Auto Grip Guitar Wall Mount Hanger (Best Overall)
Estimated price | $25 |
Guitar security | Auto-lock |
Adjustable yoke | Yes |
Neck protection | Rubber |
Materials | Hardwood, steel, rubber |
Weight | 8.8 oz. |
Other features | Narrow Neck Instrument Adjustment (NINA) technology, Auto Grip System, Auto-Swivel Yoke, optional lock kit |
My Review: The Hercules GSP38WB Plus is the perfect marriage of good old-fashioned design and exceptional 21st-century auto-lock technology. Many brands have tried to imitate this design, but only a few even can come close.
True to its namesake, the Hercules guitar wall mount hanger is designed to be tough and reliable. Whether you have a light or heavy guitar, this hanger will have absolutely no trouble and can hold even the heaviest guitars. What amazes me the most is the strong grip of its yoke. The inner surface is not that smooth. It will not scratch your guitar’s neck if that is what you are worried about. It is perfect for ensuring a good grip on the neck.
The auto lock mechanism is more responsive than those found in other brands. It is effortless. The wooden base also lends a touch of elegance to the system. That is what I call a great combo.
Bottom Line: For those who want a hassle-free and super-secure way of storing and displaying their guitar, the Hercules GSP38WB PLUS is perfect. It is as strong and secure as it is elegant.
2. String Swing CC01K-BW Guitar Hanger Wall Mount (Best Value)
Estimated price | $15 |
Guitar security | Deep curve yoke with end caps |
Adjustable yoke | Yes |
Neck protection | High-density rubber |
Materials | Black walnut solid hardwood, steel, rubber |
Weight | 5.6 oz. |
Other features | U-shaped padded hook |
My Review: The String Swing CC01K-BW is another extremely reliable wall hanger that can handle any string instrument you hang on it. As long as you install it well, you can rest knowing your guitar is safe and secure.
The padding of the yoke is denser and smoother than the cushion of other products. The end caps add a nice touch to the dark gray color of the padding, while the black walnut sure can spice up any room. It is easy to tilt the yoke to accommodate different shapes of headstocks.
Bottom Line: With its solid and reliable construction and meticulous addition of guitar-protecting cushion. The CC01K-BW is the best guitar wall hanger for the money in my opinion. It’s a cool piece and extremely well built.
3. String Swing CC151-LPN-FW Guitar Holder (Editor’s Choice)
Estimated price | $40 |
Guitar security | Dual deep curve yokes with stoppers |
Adjustable yoke | No |
Neck protection | Rubber |
Materials | Powder coated steel, rubber |
Weight | 2.1 lbs. |
Other features | Adjustable for right- or left- handed mounting, handmade |
My Review: Conventional guitar hangers are awesome in securing my guitar. The only problem is that they only allow me to orient my guitar in a vertical position. I wish there is a way to orient my guitar in its most natural position.
Thankfully, String Swing listens. The company’s CC151-LPN-FW is a low profile, horizontal guitar holder that lets you showcase your electric guitar like the pros. String Swing’s phenomenal guitar hanger comes with two yoke systems. One hugs the base of the guitar (body) and the other one grabs the neck. There are stoppers in both yokes to help secure your guitar.
Installation is easy. I suggest planning how you want to display your electric guitar. Having said that, I do wish String Swing had created a version of this mount for acoustic and wide-bodied guitars. It is that fantastic in showcasing the many fine details of an electric guitar.
Bottom Line: If you are looking for a secure and very elegant way to store and display your acoustic or electric guitar on your wall, the CC151-LPN-FW is it. Trust me.
4. Dtown Guitar Wall Mount (Budget Pick)
Estimated price | $5 |
Guitar security | Moldable yoke |
Adjustable yoke | Yes |
Neck protection | Sponge and rubber |
Materials | ABS plastic, rubber, sponge |
Weight | 2.4 oz. |
Other features | Fully adjustable arms, 4 pcs., 5 guitar plectrums |
My Review: Cheap does not always have to mean poor construction. The Dtown guitar wall mount can also be as reliable as any other guitar hanger on the market. It can accommodate guitar necks that are as wide as 2.16 inches.
What I find very interesting about the Dtown is its inconspicuous design. It does not scream for attention. It is as plain as any other fixture on your wall. Too bad Dtown only makes them in black. If this is fine with you, then you can appreciate its arms more. The arms are flexible enough to let the system hug the neck of your guitar like a Koala clinging to a tree branch.
I like the simple design of the Dtown. The base is also smaller than others. You will not see it when you hang your guitar. Dtown also includes 5 picks, just in case you already lost yours. There are no guitar pick holders, however.
Bottom Line: The Dtown Guitar Wall Mount is best for budget-conscious folks. It is sturdy enough to accommodate light- to medium- weight guitars and other string instruments.
5. Bikoney Guitar Holder Wall Mount
Estimated price | $20 |
Guitar security | Custom-made wood block yoke |
Adjustable yoke | No |
Ideal for | Acoustic guitars, ukulele, violin, cello, banjo, mandolin |
Materials | Solid Brazilian walnut (ipe) hardwood, metal |
Weight | 1.2 lbs. |
Other features | 3 carbonized hook universal hanger system, integrated top shelf for capos and other guitar accessories, built-in guitar pick holder, vintage look |
My Review: I am more of a function-over-form kind of guy. And if the guitar hanger happens to have a unique form, I would definitely grab it. This is what the Bikoney provides. And I am sure that I am not the only one saying this. It is a cool concept guitar hanger as it is very functional.
The Bikoney looks ordinary. However, the Brazilian walnut wood has a very rustic look that can be a great addition to any room. It does not have an adjustable yoke. However, it comes with enough padding to protect your guitar. It looks very solid, too. There are three general purpose hooks for hanging a guitar strap, backpack, ID lace, car keys, and what have you. The upper edge of the mount has a ridge for holding several guitar picks. I also love the shelf for accommodating a guitar tuner, capo, smartphone, and even a picture frame.
That is what you call functionality. Maybe not the most sensible to get a Bikoney if you have a dozen or so guitars at home but it’s a great alternative option which makes it one of the best guitar wall hangers available.
Bottom Line: It is rustic, very functional, and can complement the existing décor in your home. The Bikoney is perfect; unless you have more than one guitar.
6. Ohuhu Guitar Wall Mount Hanger
Estimated price | $10 |
Guitar security | Short curve yoke with stopper |
Adjustable yoke | Yes |
Neck protection | Soft EVA |
Materials | Wood, steel, EVA |
Weight | 6 oz. |
Other features | Slip-free grip, adjustable stoppers, 2 pcs. |
My Review: Ohuhu makes some really great value guitar wall mount hangers on the market. The company uses different species of solid hardwood as the base of its guitar hangers. I believe this is what makes Ohuhu’s products stand out. No two blocks of wood will be alike, giving you some degree of personalization.
This guitar wall mount hanger features a yoke with a secure stopper to give you peace of mind. The yoke has a padded covering that is tough yet gentle on your guitar. You can swivel the yoke to accommodate uneven headstock shapes. I like the gentle curve of the yoke. I think it is sexy, a perfect complement to the natural curves of the guitar.
The yoke-and-arm component juts out of the base long enough to never allow the back of the guitar graze the wall. That is very comforting to know.
Bottom Line: At a little under $10 for a pair, the Ohuhu offers great savings for those who have two guitars at home. It is an elegant way to safeguard and showcase your guitar at the same time.
7. Rock Jam Guitar Hanger Wall Mount
Estimated price | $10 |
Guitar security | Auto lock |
Adjustable yoke | Yes |
Neck protection | Rubber |
Materials | Solid hardwood, steel, rubber |
Weight | 6.7 oz. |
Other features | Pivot mount, 2 pcs. |
My Review: A great guitar hanger and wall mount does not need to have an outlandish design. All it needs is a sound design, good construction, and a system that ensures the protection of your guitar as it hangs on the wall.
The Rock Jam is a simple device that comes with an amicable price. A pair of these babies is only about $12. That is a price that is quite surprising, given the fact that the Rock Jam employs an auto lock system. It is a one-handed approach to securing your guitar on the wall.
This guitar holder has one of the nicest cushions around its yoke, too. That is comforting to know. At least, I will never have scuff marks on the neck of my favorite guitar. It is easy to install as well.
Bottom Line: Learn to get over the bland look of its wooden base and the Rock Jam can be an awesome hanger wall mount for your guitar. It is secure, stable, and will protect your guitar when you are not playing with it.
8. Top Stage JX15NA-Q2 Guitar Wall Mount Hanger
Estimated price | $10 |
Guitar security | Short curve yoke with stoppers |
Adjustable yoke | Yes |
Neck protection | Rubber |
Materials | Wood, steel, rubber |
Weight | 5 oz. |
Other features | Special padding, 2 pcs. |
My Review: Simple and functional. That is how I like my guitar wall mount hangers. I do not need anything fancy unless it can give me extra features that are equally functional. That is why I believe the Top Stage JX15NA-Q2 fits the bill like a fine mitt.
I like the wooden base of the JX15NA-Q2. It is as solid as any other hardwood. The fine details of the wood grain are only visible if you look very closely but it’s still a nice looking wall hanger nonetheless. The yoke is sturdy and allows for a secure swivel to accommodate uneven headstocks. I love the stoppers at the end of the yoke. Makes me feel more secure about my guitar.
A Philips screwdriver is all you need to install this hanger on your wall. The mounting screws are solid and the extension bolts are perfect for securing the hardware in the wall.
Bottom Line: The JX15NA-Q2 is a worthy wall-mounted hanger for different kinds of string instruments. It is affordable, easy to install, and a secure platform for your guitar.
9. Sound Harbor Guitar Wall Mount Hanger
Estimated price | $10 |
Guitar security | Deep curve yoke |
Adjustable yoke | Yes |
Neck protection | EVA |
Materials | Steel, rubber |
Weight | 5.1 oz. |
Other features | Thick metal base, 4 mounting screws per base, 2 pcs. |
My Review: There are some people who prefer a steel base to a wooden one. If you are like these people, then the Sound Harbor is a great choice. This is a guitar wall mount hanger that has a solid metal base instead of wood. At the very least, you will never worry about the base cracking if you happen to fasten the screws too tight.
Another positive thing about the Sound Harbor is that it has four mounting points. Most guitar hangers only have two so this one is more secure than having only two mounting points.
As far as the yoke goes, the Sound Harbor protects the neck and ensures excellent security for your guitar. You can adjust the yoke, too.
Bottom Line: The Sound Harbor Guitar Wall Mount Hanger is for people who feel more secure mounting a device with an all-steel construction than a wooden one. It offers an inexpensive, tough, and stable way of securing your guitar on the wall.
10. LC Prime Guitar Wall Mount Hanger
Estimated price | $15 |
Guitar security | Auto lock |
Adjustable yoke | Yes |
Neck protection | EVA cushion |
Materials | ABS plastic, steel |
Weight | 7.8 oz. |
Other features | Swing angle design |
My Review: Fans of auto lock systems will love the LC Prime Guitar Wall Mount Hanger. It is almost similar to the Rock Jam, except that this product has an all-plastic construction. The Rock Jam comes with a solid hardwood base. The LC Prime features premium ABS plastic.
While the base is plastic, the framework for the yoke is metal. It comes with an advanced auto lock system that ensures ease of use. The base of the yoke looks very sturdy, although I wish the arms were a bit longer than 1.57 inches. The padding is a wonderful touch. You won’t need to worry about putting scuff marks on your guitar.
I like the low-profile design of the base of the mount. This makes it inconspicuous. Attention will be on your guitar and not the mount.
Bottom Line: LC Prime’s guitar wall mount hanger is a solid device for securing your guitar on the wall. It is very easy to use and the price is easy on the pocket.
11. Donner Auto Lock Wall Guitar Mount
Estimated price | $20 |
Guitar security | Auto lock |
Adjustable yoke | Yes |
Neck protection | EVA cushion |
Materials | Thermoplastic ABS |
Weight | 1.21 lbs. |
Other features | 22-lb. maximum load, heart-shaped base |
My Review: Donner is a brand I can trust to put out quality products at very reasonable prices. That is what you will get from the Donner Auto Lock Wall Guitar Mount. It is a very rugged piece of fixture that can handle the weight of a 22-pound string instrument.
The best part about the Donner guitar hanger is that it’s auto lock system is very responsive. I have seen other auto lock systems that can be a real pain to activate. Headaches are a goner when you use this device to display your guitar on your wall.
Interestingly, the design of the Donner is similar to that of LC Prime. You get to tilt the device to prevent people from bumping their heads into the guitar mount. The only difference is the heart-shaped base of the Donner. And, yes, it is less expensive, too.
Bottom Line: Great value for people who have three guitars at home. You also get the same quality construction you can expect from a Donner badge.
12. K&M 16280 Guitar Wall Mount
Estimated price | $15 |
Guitar security | Auto lock |
Adjustable yoke | Yes |
Neck protection | Non-marring rubber |
Materials | Heavy-duty plastic, steel, rubber |
Weight | 6.4 oz. |
Other features | HD construction |
My Review: Konig & Meyer is one of those brands that continue to strengthen its position in the world of music products and accessories. So, when K&M decided to introduce its 16280 model of guitar wall mount, you can only expect the best.
Do not let it’s very simple appearance fool you. The K&M 16280 is anything but ordinary. This is a guitar wall hanger that is worth every dollar you spend. As if it is that expensive. This is an automatic locking guitar hanger that features high-density construction. The support elements are also very sturdy, complementing the overall ruggedness of the device.
The yoke will also never leave scuff marks on your guitar. It is what everyone expects from a guitar hanger with the K&M badge. There is also a protruding head on the tip of each arm. It is a nice way to improve guitar security.
Bottom Line: Konig & Meyer continues to impress with its 16280 Guitar Wall Mount. It is the perfect solution for anyone who wants something good looking and well built.
13. PUNK Guitar Hanger Wall Mount
Estimated price | $15 |
Guitar security | Auto lock |
Adjustable yoke | Yes |
Neck protection | Silicone |
Materials | Mahogany, silicone, plastic, steel |
Weight | 7.05 oz. |
Other features | 33-lb. maximum load, tilt design |
My Review: If you have a guitar that weighs as much as 30 pounds, you will want a guitar hanger with a considerable weight capacity. The PUNK Guitar Hanger Wall Mount is perfect. This is a device that has a beautiful exterior and a tough interior to get the job done.
Personally, I love the mahogany construction of both the yoke and the circular base. There is also a high-quality steel within the yoke that further improves the strength of the device. The auto lock mechanism is not bad either. It is quite sensitive, allowing you to put your guitar with ease.
With three mounting points on the base, the PUNK has a solid anchor on your wall.
Bottom Line: The PUNK Guitar Hanger Wall Mount is great for folks who own a heavy string instrument. It is one of the strongest guitar holders in the market with a lovely wood design to match.
14. Grip Studios GuitarGrip LHGH-101 Guitar Hanger Wall Mount
Estimated price | $50 |
Guitar security | Male grip design |
Adjustable yoke | Yes |
Neck protection | Cushioned insert |
Materials | Steel, rubber |
Weight | 1.3 lbs. |
Other features | Felt-padded base |
My Review: I love the GuitarGrip from Grip Studios. The handgrip design puts a whole new meaning to the phrase ‘holding your guitar on the wall’.
The side closest to the wall features a padded felt. This helps protect your wall against damage. The palm of the hand also features a soft cushion material that keeps the integrity of the guitar neck. It can swivel, too. You can put your electric guitar or even ukulele and never worry about it ever falling.
One downside to such a design is the effort it takes to put and remove your string instrument. It is not an auto lock system that you can easily position and secure your guitar. It is quite expensive, too relative to other hangers on this list.
Bottom Line: Forget the hefty price tag of the GuitarGrip and you can have the most fascinating way to hold, protect, and display your guitar. It is a wonderful conversation piece that never reneges on its fundamental promise of securing your guitar.
15. Healemo Guitar Wall Mount
Estimated price | $30 |
Guitar security | Short curve yoke with stopper |
Adjustable yoke | Yes |
Neck protection | Silicone rubber |
Materials | Steel, black walnut hardwood, silicone rubber |
Weight | 20 oz. |
Other features | Guitar headstock-shaped base, 3 pieces |
My Review: I commend the designers of the Healemo Guitar Wall Mount. There is a stroke of ingenuity in its design. The base features a guitar headstock san the strings, posts, and tuning pegs. There is no mistaking that this hanger is meant only for your guitar
I also love the fact that Healemo chose to use solid walnut hardwood. Other companies would use engineered wood for the base. Not Healemo. The steel that forms the backbone of the yoke is also very solid. The cushion is silicone rubber, not some flimsy plastic. I do wish Healemo used leather instead of silicone to make the guitar holder more ‘natural’.
The stopper at the end of each yoke arm also aids in securing your guitar. This is handy when you want to hang your electric guitar.
Bottom Line: The Healemo is perfect for those who cannot get enough of their guitars. It is a great-looking guitar hanger that offers a secure and versatile way of showcasing three of your guitars on your wall.
16. Your Forte Guitar Hanger
Estimated price | $40 |
Guitar security | Deep curve yoke |
Adjustable yoke | Yes |
Neck protection | EVA |
Materials | Solid maple or walnut, steel, EVA |
Weight | 12 oz. |
Other features | Lion face engraving |
My Review: Your Forte’s guitar hanger is interesting for sure. It has a ‘wild’ design that I think will be perfect in any man cave. The wavy block of maple wood features an intricate lion engraving. The light and dark lines create an almost 3D effect to the lion’s face, staring at you when you get your guitar.
The padding of the yoke is thick. It will never scratch or leave scuff marks on your guitar. The opening is also wide enough to accommodate different widths of the guitar neck. It is easy to rotate to help find the most secure way to hold your guitar.
The positioning of the yoke base is also ingenious. It juts out right where the lion’s mouth would be. It is as if the yoke is the lion’s tongue. Now that is pretty cool.
Bottom Line: The Your Forte Guitar Hanger is a fascinating wall-mounted carriage system for your guitar. It has a lovely design that can give your room a Safari-like vibe, while also taking good care of your guitar.
17. Wishwood Guitar Wall Mount
Estimated price | $35 |
Guitar security | Deep curve yoke |
Adjustable yoke | No |
Neck protection | 100% genuine leather |
Materials | Heavy-duty plywood, walnut wood veneer, leather |
Weight | 10.5 oz. |
Other features | Capo holder, guitar pick holder |
My Review: I cannot help think that Wishwood drew inspiration from a 19th century top hot in designing its guitar wall mount. This is if you look at the guitar hanger from the front.
Looking at the Wishwood from the side lets you conjure of a different image. It has that classic J-shape or hook. What you may not notice is that there are two critical elements in the Wishwood’s design. There is a rectangular block on the right side of the base. This is perfect for holding your guitar capo. At the top of the base is a notch for holding your plectrum.
The yoke of the Wishwood comes with genuine leather material for protecting the neck. My only lament is that the Wishwood does not feature solid wood. It would be difficult to shape it in its current form if it was solid wood.
Bottom Line: If you do not mind its price, the Wishwood is a nice guitar wall mount that can also double as elegant wall décor. It has enough features that can outclass other guitar hangers on the market.
Guitar Wall Mounts and Hangers: Your Complete Buying Guide
I am confident that you have already picked a guitar wall mount and hanger from the products I presented in the preceding section. Some are pretty simple. Others have a very uncanny design that can complement your rock style.
I am not discounting the possibility that none of these products appeal to you. That is why I also prepared this guide to help you search for your own guitar wall mount and hanger. I also included a few other things that will help you get the most out of your chosen product.
Who Needs a Wall-mounted Hanger for their Guitar?
There are some people who think that a guitar hanger wall mount is unnecessary. They also say that it is quite risky to hang your guitar on the wall. The risk of falling and damaging your guitar is simply too much for these people to take.
What they propose is a guitar stand or even a display cabinet. These types of guitar storage solutions offer better stability and protection for your guitar. A display cabinet can also protect your guitar from dust and other potential contaminants that can undermine the wonderful finish of your instrument.
These points do have merit. Nobody wants to have his guitar fall to the floor and shatter to smithereens. No one wants to have cobwebs, dust, and other particles on his guitar. I get it.
However, there are also drawbacks to such guitar storage solutions. Children can easily access your guitar if it is on a stand. Dogs and other pets can run around and topple the stand and your guitar. This can also result in guitar damage.
Cabinets are excellent. However, if you are the type of guitarist who cannot last a few hours without holding his instrument, it would be very tedious to unlock the cabinet, get the guitar, and lock the cabinet every single time you are itching for a few nice fingerstyles.
Space is another issue when using a guitar stand or display cabinet. These solutions require a substantial amount of floor space. A single-guitar stand can require a floor area of 10 inches by 8 inches. It is not that much, I know. Unfortunately, you will have to widen the stance of the stand if you want it to be more stable. There are also stands that accommodate up to 8 different guitars at a time. These are stands that take up space.
A guitar wall mount and hanger address these issues. If you mount the hanger high enough, then it would be impossible for small children to reach it. It will never tip over or topple. Your dog will not be able to reach it, too. Unless, of course, you have a very nosy canine that will stand on its rear legs to sniff your guitar.
Accessing your guitar is also easier with a guitar hanger than a cabinet. There are hangers that have a deeply hooked yoke for easy removal of the guitar. There are also products that come with a swivel lock system. All you need is to push the locks aside and you can hug your guitar like a Teddy bear. Returning your guitar to the guitar wall hanger is also easy.
You also do not need to give up some of your floor space. You can mount the guitar wall hanger above any existing fixture or furniture in your home. You get to use the space directly under the guitar hanger. Put a small cabinet to store your other things. Place a shoe rack or even a storage solution for your kids’ playthings.
So, who needs a guitar wall mount and hanger?
Anyone who has a guitar deserves a good guitar wall mount and hanger. You can use a guitar stand if that is what you want. And if you are the obsessive-compulsive type, a guitar display cabinet is even better. Make sure you understand the pros and cons of each product type before you buy.
Check and Prepare Your Wall
As I already mentioned above, one of the things that dissuade people from buying a guitar hanger is the risk of the guitar falling to the floor. You can eliminate this risk by ensuring the correct installation of the guitar wall mount.
Everything starts with a basic understanding of your wall. After all, it is that part of your house that will accommodate the wall mount and your guitar. You have to understand what kind of wall you have in the house. Do you have a solid concrete wall? Is it made of drywall, plaster, or even wood panels?
If you are not sure, you can try knocking on your wall. A solid or dense mass will elicit a flat or dull sound. If there is space behind your wall, it will produce a tympanic sound similar to that of a drum. A dull sound will often suggest that you have a solid wall. Maybe you have a concrete wall. If the sound is tympanic, then you may have drywall or a wall made of wooden boards.
The best way to mount a guitar hanger on a concrete wall is by drilling a hole through it. You can then insert an expansion bolt to help secure the screw of the mount.
If you have drywall, plaster, or wood panel wall, you might want to check where the wall studs are. Wall studs are supporting structures behind your wall. These are framing elements that are denser and stronger than the wall panel itself.
Tap on your wall from left to right. Take note of the sound that you produce. If it is hollow or tympanic, then you do not have a wall stud behind. Once the sound turns flat or dull, that is your cue. You have found the wall stud. Drill in the center of this stud to serve as an anchor point for your guitar wall mount and hanger.
If you are not confident about mounting the guitar hanger, you might want a professional to do it.
Things to Consider when Buying a Guitar Hanger Wall Mount
Getting a guitar wall mount and hanger is as exciting as buying a guitar itself. This is the stuff that will take good care of your instrument when you are away from it. The hanger can also be a wonderful decorative piece if you are selective in your search. If you still do not have a clue as to which guitar hanger to buy, you may want to consider the following things.
Guitar Security
Remember what I said about the reason why many people do not like the idea of hanging their guitar on their wall? It is all about security. That is security from falling. No one wants to come home one day only to find out that his favorite gig instrument is already broken into a hundred jigsaw-like pieces. That is why it is imperative that you pick a guitar wall mount and hanger that can guarantee absolute security for your guitar.
Unfortunately, guitar security is as much a function of product design as it does the manner of mount installation. Getting a very sturdy product with heavy-duty hardware and reliable construction is only half the equation. The manner in which you install the mount is the other. If you install the hanger in a haphazard manner, then you may not be able to guarantee security for your guitar. That is why I always recommend getting a professional to help you install the guitar wall mount.
You also do not want your guitar to slide off the hanger. You can have a very sturdy mount that can handle an elephant. However, this will prove useless if your guitar slides off the arm of the hanger.
There are two ways a guitar hanger can help secure your instrument by preventing slippage. Most products on the market come with a yoke that incorporates a deep curve design. Gravity pulls the guitar to slide along the hanger arm. A curved arm prevents this gravitational effect.
Another way to secure your guitar is by using a hanger than incorporates a locking mechanism. These products use a swivel type lock that serves as a security gate on the opening of the hanger arms. The two ‘locks’ reduce the space between the arms to prevent the guitar neck from slipping forward and falling to the floor.
You might also want a guitar wall mount and hanger that incorporates an auto-lock system. This system relies on the weight of your guitar. As soon as you let go of your guitar on the hanger, the yoke locks itself to secure your guitar. Removing your guitar will also remove the weight bearing on the system. This unlocks it.
There are also guitar hangers that combine a deep curve yoke with a stopper. The stoppers act like security ‘gates.
Do not forget the adjustability of the yoke. This allows you to put different types of guitar on it. Some guitars have a thinner neck than others. Adjusting the yoke can help improve the security of the guitar hanger.
Overall Construction
The overall construction of a guitar wall mount and hanger is more a function of brand trustworthiness. Reputable brands will never sell a product that can tarnish their good name. Of course, there are also newcomers and small companies that strive to provide customers with only the best possible quality of products.
One aspect you might want to check is the materials used in the production of the guitar hanger. There are several choices here. Most of the products we have on the market come with a wooden base and a steel arm. Wood is always a good material, especially if it is hardwood. Avoid products that use engineered wood. These come in layers that may show some issues in its structural integrity over time. Solid hardwood is better.
I have also seen guitar hangers made of high-grade plastic. The beauty of these products is that they are lightweight. The issue is that they often look cheap and uncool. I surely do not want to hang my Fender Stratocaster and my Gibson Montana Hummingbird on a pair of cheap plastic wall mounts. However, there are plastic products that look classy enough to merit your attention.
When buying a guitar hanger and wall mount, make sure that the construction is solid. There should be no cracks, dents, or any other sign of physical imperfection.

Did you know that your guitar is actually hanging by its neck if you use a guitar hanger? Remember the yoke I mentioned above? The space between the two arms is wide enough to accommodate the neck of your guitar.
If you look at your instrument, the neck is narrower than the headstock (that part of your guitar where you have the tuning keys). The guitar will not slip and fall because the headstock is bigger than the space between the arms of the yoke.
You may have a problem here. There is a chance that you can scuff or scratch the neck of your guitar if you are not careful in removing or placing it on the hanger. It is for this reason that you need to consider the material used in the design of the yoke.
Most of the guitar hangers you will see have rubber-wrapped steel yokes. Other models may use other non-abrasive materials. Make sure to perform thorough research on these materials before you decide to buy a certain guitar hanger wall mount.
Price
Guitar wall mounts and hangers are not expensive items. You can get an inexpensive hanger for less than $5. Most companies sell their products in packs of 2s, 3s, or even 10s. These products are ideal for those who have more than one guitar to hang.
Do not be shocked if you find a product that will cost you about $50 or more. These are one-of-a-kind guitar hangers. Many of these products have very intricate designs, use very uncommon materials, or incorporate other features into their design.
In my opinion, buying a high-end guitar hanger is never an issue if you can buy a thousand-dollar or so guitar.
Style
Some people like to keep things as simple and inconspicuous as possible. Others look for something that can provide them with added value. There are also guitar players who may want a guitar hanger and wall mount that can complement their personality.
I cannot tell you the kind of style you need to look for. It is something that only you know. One hint: look in your room. What are the things you see? Can you identify the theme in these things? If you can, then you are that closer to determining the style of guitar wall mount and hanger that you need.
Additional Features
Not all guitar wall mounts and hangers have features other than keeping your guitar secure. If you want better value for your purchase, you might want to look for products that have added features.
A guitar hanger that has an integrated holder for your guitar picks, guitar straps, and other small items is a great choice. If the product comes with a mini shelf for placing some of your trinkets and other items, this will also be a valuable product.
Always look at the different ways you can use the guitar hanger wall mount. It can double as a hanger for your jacket, backpack, and other items. Maybe it can even function as a decorative piece. Who knows?
Final Word:
The sheer number of guitar wall mounts and hangers in the market does not make choosing and buying the right one any easier. Different products can look the same, differing only in a few minor details. Most of the time, their features also overlap. This can make choosing especially confusing for beginner guitar players.
That is why I always recommend performing thorough research on the products that you want to buy. Evaluate each one according to the things that you want in a guitar wall mount and hanger. It is often wise to create a comparison table to make the selection process easier.
If you are in a hurry, you can always pick one or several from the products I already reviewed and shared with you in this article. You can bet that any of these products is a smart buy.
